
Anita
Nowery Durel, CFRE has more than thirty years of nonprofit
and development experience with a broad range of institutions, including
museums and cultural, educational, youth and health organizations.
She works with leaders to establish integrated, donor-centered fundraising
strategies, including major giving initiatives, capital campaigns,
and development coaching and training. She is the President of the
Maryland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals
(AFP) and a Subject Matter Expert for Certified Fund Raising Executives
International (CFRE).

Durel has played an active role in many professional and community
organizations. Her activities have included board leadership on
parent teacher organizations, local history education/video programs,

boards, church governing boards and the Writing Project. Other service
included: gallery exhibition work, scouts and youth organizations.
Publications
In addition to her writings on fundraising and
management that are published on this site, Durel was a regular
columnist on educational issues for Baltimore’s Child
from 1991 to 1999, and also published articles in the Baltimore
Sun and the Baltimore Messenger.
