Deputy Directors Roundtable

Structure

Round Table Participants: Participants are selected based on

  • their leadership position,
  • their commitment to institutional change, and
  • their willingness to fully participate.

Ground Rules: The following ground rules are the foundation of the process of dialogue. They invariably deepen trust among participants, which fosters learning at the most significant emotional and cognitive levels.

  • Full participation
  • Open and honest interaction
  • Mutual respect
  • Absolute confidentiality

Email and Tele-Conferences: Members communicate regularly via email, exchanging requests for information and suggestions for handling specific issues. The Chair facilitates the exchange by posting management briefings that introduce new ways to think about organizational issues. The members also stay in touch through monthly conference calls.

Annual Retreat: Every Fall (mid-September to early November) the round table meets for an overnight retreat. The precise dates and location are chosen by the group to accommodate the schedules of the greatest number of members. ALL members are strongly encouraged to attend the retreat. This is the one opportunity members have to be together as a group. This is where the bonds of trust and friendship form and grow. This is the place where members discover how best they can support one another.

Occasional Meetings: When the chair is in a city or region, and enough members are nearby and able to attend, then they may meet for a two or three hour session. These are arranged as opportunities arise.
